Make CORE memories with your kids!

Everyone has a memory or recollection of someone baking in their home. Baking is something that makes people come closer and gives comfort and happiness. The familiar smells of sugars, chocolates, vanilla and spices that come from baking are indistinguishable and bring a sense of home. I love baking. Seeing the happy faces of people eating my sweet creations makes it all worth it! Here are 8 kid-friendly hand mixer recipes that you can make together with your little ones. They are simple and fun, and kids can help with mixing, measuring, and of course, they're favorite part, decorating! Get messy with your kids, it's OK. A messy kitchen for a day will give them the best memories for a lifetime. They're young for a very short moment in time...enjoy that moment.


1. Whipped Cream Topping (EASY)

Using a hand mixer such as this one, will help tremendously! :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2-3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

( for a chocolate whipped cream add 2-3 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder )

Instructions:

  1. In a chilled mixing bowl, ( about 15-20 minutes in the freezer ) pour the heavy whipping cream.
  2. Use the hand mixer on medium speed to beat the cream for about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  4. Continue mixing until soft stiff peaks form (about 3-4 minutes).
  5. Use as a topping on pies, cupcakes, or hot chocolate or as a dip for cookies and fruits. Kids can help with mixing and sprinkling sugar.

2. Chocolate Chip Cookies ( Classic! )

Dough can be made ahead of time and refrigerated, kids can help roll them into balls and put chocolate chips on top when it's time to bake them!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. In a large bowl, use the hand mixer to beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then the vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes. Kids can help scoop the dough and place the chocolate chips.

3. Funfetti Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of vanilla cake mix
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup rainbow sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, use the hand mixer to combine cake mix, oil, eggs, and water. Mix on medium speed for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the rainbow sprinkles.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before serving.
  5. Kids can help measure, stir, and add the sprinkles!

4. Banana Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, mash the bananas.
  3. In a separate bowl, use the hand mixer to blend eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and sugar.
  4. Add the mashed bananas to the wet ingredients and mix.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt) and mix until just combined.
  6. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let them cool before serving.
  7. Kids can help mash the bananas, mix the wet ingredients, and spoon the batter.

5. Vanilla Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. In one bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt).
  3. In another bowl, use the hand mixer to beat the butter and sugar together until creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk alternately, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Fill the cupcake liners with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let them cool.
  7. Kids can help with mixing, pouring, and decorating after the cupcakes cool!

6. Mini Cheesecakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 package cream cheese (8 oz), softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 12 graham cracker crumbs (for crust)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Mix graham cracker crumbs and melted butter and press into the bottom of each muffin tin.
  3. In a separate bowl, use the hand mixer to beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time and mix.
  5. Spoon the mixture onto the graham cracker crusts and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Cool and chill before serving. Kids can help mix the batter and press the crust.

7. Frosted Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Use the hand mixer to beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes and allow to cool.
  8. Decorate with frosting and sprinkles. Kids can help roll the dough, decorate, and sprinkle the cookies.

8. Oreo No-Bake Cheesecake

Ingredients:

  • 10 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped cream (from the whipped cream topping recipe above)

Instructions:

  1. Mix crushed Oreos and melted butter, then press into the bottom of a pie dish or tart pan.
  2. Use the hand mixer to beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Fold in the whipped cream until combined.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the Oreo crust and refrigerate for 3 hours or until set.
  5. Decorate with extra crushed Oreos or chocolate drizzle. Kids can help crush the Oreos and mix the filling.
